Hello,
I have been researching a particular company and am considering joining its affiliate program. I am going to acquire a domain name to just promote this affiliate's products.
The name of the company is widget industries. They own widgetindustries.com and widget-industries.com.
I just checked and industries-widget.com is still available.
Do you see any drawbacks of acquiring this domain and selling the same products as widgetindustries as an affiliate?
Thanks for your thoughts.

It depends if either "widget" or "industries" is a trademarked term. For example let's just pretend I owned nikerunningshoes.com. Well that exact term may not be trademarked, but the "nike" part of it is. So if Nike finds out I own that domain they will most likely try and use their lawyers and trademark power to make me cease and desist.

Apologies in advance for using a brand name, but it helped illustrate a point better.

Some aff progs won't let you use their brand in a domain so make sure you read the TOS before buying it.

When in doubt, contact the company if the TOS as stated above does not cover the issue.
