What are the standard terms and conditions a publisher should ask for?

I am trying to negotiate my first ad deal.

Hello everyone - I hope there are more xperienced people here who can help me. I am talking to an ad network about selling some unsold inventory on my site. They really want to do a deal and they asked me:

"What type of volume do you have available and what are your terms and conditions?"

This sounds very open ended to me. What are the standard terms and conditions for ad deals? What terms can I get since they really want it? I mean, what should I specify to them since they really want the inventory?

Don't be too fussy with the terms and conditions - stick to simple things such as notice period, payment period and minimum contract length. If need be, specify pre-approval of the ad by your side, or the right to reject an ad based on unsuitable content.

Hey vince, thanks for the tip. What would you usually like to see for: notice period, payment period and minimum contract length? What's considered fair terms? What kind of terms would raise red flags?

I've only a little experience here, better to wait for some other members to weigh in. Otherwise - consider how the terms you are proposing would seem to you if you were the advertiser.

You are on the "other end" of a CPA network deal. Generally, when a company books a deal with a CPA network, the network wants to install their own tracking on your site, they want to have exclusive offers (not running anywhere else) and they want their money weekly.

You should be able to define what kind of payment you want, approval over creative and a 24 hour out. You want to protect yourself in case you find a better offer.

Here's a good article on it: [clickz.com...]
