I don't trust any of them. Been burned in the past.

HI and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

The most important thing for any affiliate is the $$.

Stats tracking, communcation with the affiliate manager, timely payouts, good support are some other important aspects of a successful program. It also helps if you have a well known brand so the affiliate has a recognizable product to promote on his/her site.

1.What kind of affiliate program you offer is important (CPC, CPM, CPL, CPS)
2.How you going to Tracking the performance (Daily performance report)
3.Good Support or Customer services
4.Which country you targeted for? (UK, US, AUS, ASIA or international)
5.Payout rate for the campaign

Hey, good luck with your affiliate program. In order of importance for me:

1. Good payout.
2. Good tracking.
3. Good customer service.
4. Timely payouts.
5. Low, or Zero Reversal Rates.
6. Good Converting Program (It could be a great product at a great payout, but if the sales copy doesn't convert then it is virtually useless).

Would tend to disagree. The most important thing for me is whether it has relevance to my site topic or not.

I'm not tempted to start indulging in theme dilution.

Assuming that the merchant is relevant, what makes me feel like I want to join the program is whether I feel I know the merchant's brand well enough that I would buy from the merchant myself. (I'm pretty reticent about buying anything very much, so I guess if I'm willing to buy most others would be too).

So, relevancy and brand is what tends to tip the scales for me.

Ronin,

I think maybe you're from a different school of thought than I. I look to evalute profitable areas, and once I have identified that , I build content for said subject.

It appears you work the other way which is fine as there are many ways to accomplish the same goal.

Pretty much >;-> - I'm a journalist, not a marketeer.

I look for a combination of serveral things (in no particular order):

- Relevant to the website
- Decent commission %
- Recurring commission (if the model supports it)
- Prefer indie programs. If I have to go through CJ, it's a major turnoff.
- It needs to be a product or service that I personally feel good about selling. I will usually purchase the product or service myself before I join an affiliate program in order to evaluate the quality, promptness, customer service, etc.
