I want to know whether it's a good idea to place ads at the bottom of the content on your website.

I wouldn't put ads only at the bottom of content, but I think there are times that ads there make sense. For example, if you publish a review, especially if it needs some vertical scrolling, you might want to put another link for the product at the end, in case the review has actually caused someone to think about buying. But you also want to have ads (or text links) higher on the page because not everyone is going to read the entire review.
