What are the best ads for Mainstream Traffic?

I've started this new site with lots of mainstream traffic. Does anyone has any suggestions on what kind of ads work receive the best click through rate with mainstream traffic.

I tried dating ads and they receive a click through rate of 1 percent with 100.000 adviews.

What does "mainstream traffic" mean? Like, just general traffic? If you get a lot of traffic, make sure you run CPM ads if you don't get a high CTR. Get paid for the impressions rather than the clicks that way.
