Hi all,

I'm an affiliate with Amazon.com.
I recently started advertising on Adwords.
Is there a way to track the conversion of these ads?

Kind Regards,

Dirk.

Welcome to Webmaster World!

You are not allowed to advertise Amazon affiliate links on Adwords. I have asked Amazon this before. Amazon said that:

-You are not allowed to use the:
Amazon name
logo
or URL

Hello Kodaks,

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not directly advertising Amazon.

I'm advertising a product on my website. When people click on a product from my website they go to the Amazon website.

Cheers, Dirk.

A way I use to estimate the success rate is by using the conversion tracking offered within Adwords.

I put their javascript on a basket page, though if you are not using a basket you could incorporate a temporary page with a redirect that would do the job.

The conversion rate won't equal the number of items purchased, but if you can work out generally what percentage of people go from clicking the more info button to making a sale, then the conversion info from Google can be used in conjunction to work out your estimated earnings per click.

Dirkji:

you can check conversion rates by logging into Amazon's associates site (associates.amazon.com). It sometimes takes a while to update the previous day's statistics, though. In fact, I haven't been able to get my stats yet. :P

Usually it's pretty good about updating, though it sometimes takes as late as 10:00 AM or later (Eastern) to see them.

You can see percentages by link type by selecting view reports and scrolling down past the item sales summary.

Thanks for the replies.

I currently don't have a basket page, but I'm looking into Amazon web services.

Briguy, I'm looking for a way to track how many of my adwords ads translate into a sale.
You can't find that information on the Amazon reports.

Cheers, Dirk.
