When selling an affiliate product with adwords is it better to:

#1)point to the vendor's main page with various keywords using one adword ad,

#2)or is it usually better to have multiple ads and target individual products.

I just started running affiliate ads today and I am currently doing the first, but it seems that the second may be more targetted and produce more sales.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks:
Michael

if you do not start choosing well targeted keywords and send them to very specific landing pages, you will eventually go broke.

This is not an option, it is essential to being successful

Targetted is almost always better. Sure, it takes more time, but unless you have money to burn on those un-targetted visitors, it's worth the effort.

Target individual products.

Candle:

Better to target specific keywords and products. I have a popular colored widget that I stopped selling because the general term wasn't profitable enough. When I advertised on the specific colored widgets, it was MUCH more profitable. I'm sometimes amazed at the response with a well-targeted ad leading to an individual product page.
