Tip for affiliate managers out there

Mention what your product is in your emails to potential affiliates

I just got another sales email from an affiliate manager to sign up for their program. The email went into the commission structure and potential bonuses but never mentioned what the program even sold.

I just thought I'd mention that its a good idea to remember to include this information. Sometimes if the merchant has a generic type name, the potential affiliates receiving the sales email don't know if the program is selling car insurance, fishing gear or ballet slippers. If the program is with a well known brand then the products may be obvious, but I get more than a few email solicitations each year to join programs that are not well known and it isn't always obvious from the name of the program what type of product is involved.

You are correct. If they won't explain what it is they are selling, they definitey get the quick delete button. i also kind of like to know where they got my contact info.

I think I got the same email. Was it about "web hosting"?

I think the gist of the thread is that it didn't say ;)

I get these all the time too. I suspect it's just automated spam.

Exactly. I don't know what it was about and, like many other people, I get so much spam email I'm not going to bother researching doing any research on it.

But I'm sure I've deleted some legitimate emails over the years for program I may have been interested in just because it wasn't obvious what the program was even selling.

But if they're that bad at their own marketing..... do you really want to get involved with them?
