How does Google view affiliate links on an ecommerce site?

Affiliate links hurt search engine rankings for an ecommerce site?

I have an ecommerce site that sells rather expensive items that require installation from a professional. We don't offer the installation services, so the customer has to figure that part out themselves. In order to off-set our PPC advertising costs, we're looking at including an affiliate link to a well-known professional service finder that will help the visitor through the process.

Will this hurt our rankings or have any foreseeable negative affect on how Google views our site as a whole? The affiliate links will only be found under a specific category of products. We have 20 or so categories.

Adwords can be sniffy about landing pages with affiliate links but I have never had a problem with SERPS. My music magazine site always has a couple of Amazon links for new releases and I sit quite happily in the top 3 results for all relevant searches.
