Clickbank

For real?

Have found a number of products or services I'd happily sell via Clickbank, though some are pretty dodgy.

I've never used Clickbank - do they truly do what they say they do? There seems to be a number of sites pretty much linked together and I'm starting to wonder if the whole thing is a scam?

any horror stories or anything specific to watch out for? One merchant expected me to put my full name, address and as well as my 'nickname', my password - to generate a link? I don't think so!

I don't know if I'm asking about a large, well known system or referring to something you've never heard of - they're completely new to me?

I don't know about the merchants WITHIN clickbank, but clickbank itself is legit. They will pay you. I don't use them personally but have a lot of friends who do and they all get paid on time every pay period. ;)

Thank you C, that's helped put my mind at rest.

I only advertise 2 click bank products, but i do pretty well with both of them, and I confirm that click bank has paid me on time for 3 years now.
I know what you mean about some sites seeming really dodgey. I doubt I would BUY anything from there :), but I sure will sit back and collect the money.
BTW, in my experience, if you go through the clickbank interface to generate your links, you only need to enter your login name (no pw or anything else).

Thanks Suzy, this affiliate thingy can be nerve-wracking enough, re-assurance is a valuable thing.

*wonders if he could figure out some way of selling it online..*

I've promoted Clickbank products for some time now. Commissions were ok initially but now it is almost non-existent.

Maybe it is the competition, maybe it is leakage, maybe it is hijacking, maybe it is my marketing. But whatever it is, it is one of my worst performers although they definitely pay on time, every time.

Heard lots of horror stories of tracking errors and so on from other forums.

So now, I'm going to stop promoting them and concentrate on other more lucrative and reliable merchants :)

Where you still getting the same volume of through traffic when commissions dropped, ie were you tracking them to the sales page, having them leave at that point but no 'sales' coming through?

Clickbank works. "Even without a website", like some ebook said:)
The problem is, you have to set up a lot of accounts if you want to track sales (from CPC, your websites, newsletter), or live in a blind world. The most interesting part is, the common commission rate is 50% or more (75%) and the conversion rates of CB merchants are very high (to me, at least)

I think I will advertise at least some of their stuff, see how it goes.

I keep hearing about hijacking or parasites, I've no idea how someone could do that but is there a solid means of prevention?

Hey,

As far as ClickBank paying on time... I have received probably around 6-8 checks from them, and they have ALWAYS been exactly on time.

In reality though, ClickBank needs to get with the program. Most of the really high-end people (Money Earners) from this board have said they don't touch CB. I think this is due to many reasons, but CB doesn't help by improving their system, and other things that could make their network better as a whole. They don't even have something as simple as a Search Function!

I think it is only a matter of time before someone takes them out with something much better.

All the Best,

C.K.

I agree about the set-up being very crude, which is why I wondered if they were for real!

I'm still concerned about this hijacking thing, is it something unique to clickbank and their system?

Hey,

I have heard that highjacking usually occurs if you are promoting Internet Marketing related products. You probably won't be in that niche anyways.

CB won't let you see the traffic and no, I did not track them with a 3rd party software either.

All I can see is the traffic on my own "referral page" -- about the same.

I think some of the bigger players here have said that they don't do CB at all. If you want to make it, guess you got to do what the big boys do or at least don't do what they won't do :)

You can try it if you want to. Please keep us posted on how you perform later.

Will do :o)

I know with my own surfing habits that small, intereting little sites tend to have small but interesting adverts, unusual stuff or very low prices.

I would agree on shying away from CB if in a position to be picky but again I cannot yet compete against the guys who get BA or Vodaphone to advertise on their sites :o)

Erm... if you create a clickbank account and have a really stupid 'nickname' and then realise your incredibly stupid nickname is going to be part of the url and stuff, can you just open a new account with the same info but a better name?

I ask as I have this friend who did such a thing.. *blush*

I've heard someone say something about multiple accounts for tracking purposes, so I'm figuring it can be done but don't want to try and get penalized or something, because it sounds painful?

:o/

Erm, my friend that is, with the exceptionally stupid nickname..

Pibs...CB has been great for me. I guess I don't talk personally to enough "big" players in here, but CB products account for about 25% of my site's revenues. That is even with Adsense on my sites. They pay on time, every time. The products that show up first on CB's product pages are the highest converting ones based on their conversion figures. The payout rates are superb...usually 40 to 75% of product cost. I won't take CB links off my page until I come across something better.

Dave.

p.s. And trust me, I've looked at many Affiliate Networks. They key is to spread your risk by promoting products from different networks...
