Hey,

I promised someone that I would sign up under them for a specific program. How would I go about signing up under them in CJ?

Ask for the URL to the site, than type the URL in the browser and signup. That's it! What did you think you had to do?

You should double-check whether CJ even has a two-tier system anymore. I thought they discontinued that quite a while ago.

Hey,

ask them.

If something can be answered here, quicker, then I am going to ask here, and potentially help others.

Ask for the URL to the site, than type the URL in the browser and signup. That's it! What did you think you had to do?

Apparently from what Buckworks says, you can't do that. Have you actually done this before? I was thinking of just visiting the Merchants site on the person's ID, and then going to CJ, and signing up... But I really don't see how CJ would register that user so that he receives money too.

All the Best,

if CJ promotes some sort of two tier system, then obviously the guy that wanted you to sign up under him would have some sort of specific instructions for getting others to sign up.

he probably has a url with some sort of id in it.

NO, CJ have abandoned 2nd tiers across the board after years of abuse. They have suggested that they may revisit and reconsider for specific cases where the argument merits it, but in general their policies are against it and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

This is from my CJ "publisher account manager" when approached on this very subject last week.

i agree and disagree with the 'abuse' argument cj uses.

Agree in terms of - aff marketers shouldn't take advantage, although the good ones do.

Disagree in terms of - who care who the 2nd tier is as long as the sale is made and the company is making cash.

Winner :: disagree! :)

making money is the bottom line.

Actually "H" told me there is a way to set up 2 tier in CJ. It's not straight forward and I think a merchant would have to pay CJ's 750 fee for a new "action" to get it done. Many CJ reps don't even know how to do it and it's pretty convoluted so I would'nt recommend it.

But yes, as a general rule CJ programs don't have 2 tiers. That's one of the reasons we add an Indie program option to a lot of our CJ programs. You may check with the affiliate to see if this merchant offers another tracking option that has 2 tiers.

who care who the 2nd tier is as long as the sale is made and the company is making cash.

I believe the primary problem reported by CJ (FWIW) was when the Tier 1 affiliate and the Tier 2 affiliate was the same affiliate under different accounts.

So one affiliate was collecting two commissions on all transactions.

what's teh difference if an affiliate collects both tiers of commission, as long as the sale is being made.

The company will have to pay out 2 tiers anyways...so the company is not losing any money.

The affiliate is just being smart.

<<company will have to pay out 2 tiers anyways>>

Why is this? If CJ has a 2-tier option, I sign up through myself. If they do not, I go directly to cj and sign up.
