Hi Sheriff and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

Try a google search [google.com] and you should find many.

Good luck.

Thank you for advice but I can't find it between at least first 60 links.
1) dead links
2) tops with 1-3 members
3) tops not related with webdesign

Why would you be looking for top webmasters sites? I've never seen a top10 or top100 type site do anything of any merit. I can't imagine the traffic they bring would be much better qualified than traffic from an FFA site.

How would a "top webmasters" site be judged anyway? Amount of design work a designer has done in the last year, judged by $$ income or # of sites? Which webmasters' client sites are top grossing in their industries?

I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out the point of such a site...

Ok, I'll try to explain ...
Traffic from FFA-sites = 0.
SE is rather hard way to get visitors.
Top sites traffic already helps me to get clients.

I'm suprised a top site would be an effective way to get traffic... but if it works for you, good luck finding more sites. I've never seen a top10, top50, or top100 (etc.) site that wasn't geared towards @dult sites or w@rez.

Sheriff, I think you are probably looking for what amounts to webmaster award sites. They can be found randomly by searching for web design type categories at the search engines, although it might take a bit of hunting, trying different search terms. You might want to try the webmaster resource section at about.com and maybe try a search for "webmaster awards" "webmaster directories" or "webmaster award sites"

Hope this helps Sheriff, if you hunt for a bit you'll find some. I know what you mean, but there aren't too many of them.

Ok, 10x to all.
I hoped that other webmasters use tops on their sites ...

I seem to remember seeing something in my web travels some time ago about someone having a searchable directory of awards sites. Vague I know but I am dredgeing up from darkest forgotten memories here.

Does that ring a bell with anyone?

Yes, it sure does ring a bell! And now I remember where I heard about it, and who I heard it from. I will dig around a bit and see if I can come up with the URL.

Thanks for the "memory jog" Woz - I had forgotten all about it. It's a site that gives ratings to awards, ranging from 1 to 4.

Selfpromotion.com has a list of awards sites to submit to. If you read through the list carefully, you may be able to find web-design-specific awards.

Sheriff, First, welcome to the board. I think there may have been some miscommunication in this thread. If I read between the lines correctly, it appears you were looking for others to join a top site ring/system? As you can see, there aren't too many around here involved in those.

"it appears you were looking for others to join a top site ring/system"

I have own top, but this URL wasn't published on this forum even in my profile.
I really don't like spam and never write urls of my sites without request.

Apparently I overlooked a simple, obvious solution. I did a search on the little Google toolbar for top 100 sites, and found a lot of them.

I am interested in a few I found for certain specific sites that I work on. They seem to be effective for crafts sites and womens sites for some reason.

The large number of top sites related to webdesign are gathered from "free site tools" and "clip art" sites.
Of course conversion ratio "customers / visitors" on such tops is very low.
That's why Google doesn't help me to find some good tops ...

I've used 2 "Top Sites" on my web pages in two years.

My traffic outflow was 100X my traffic inflow. In other words, the top sites stole traffic, they didn't send me any.

It's the same concept as a web ring. You want to give users as few choices as possible to leave your site. You want them to stay as long as you can get them to, and buy stuff on your site. This is called Web Stickiness. Top sites and Web Rings are un-sticky... they send traffic away.

Search engine traffic and reciporical links are where you should be putting your time. I haven't paid a single person anything to promote my sites, and I top the list on many topics and keywords. Once you learn how to submit and optimize properly, Web Rings and Top Sites end up looking like the waste of Script that they are...
