Half.com/Paypal affiliates and the like

What do you guys think of affiliates like those two mentioned above, that only pay once for a new customer? I'd like to get them listed on my site but I feel it's not a good deal to refer them only once and then not get anything else out of the deal.

Am I wrong to think that way or there will always be new people signing up that the flow of income would at least not dry up.?

Or, put it other way, is anyone making any consistent money with any get-commissions-only-once affiliate programs? how about specifically about half.com or paypal?

I believe Paypal is discontinuing their referral program. Their threshold for getting the lead was pretty high anyways. But, Ebay has a similar program for qualified leads, $5 per - offerred through CJ and BeFree.
