Newbie needs help.

If someone has the time could you briefly explain the following. I just want to make sure I am clear.

Action Referral Period:
some say 1 time....Does this mean the you only get commissions if someone comes to the site and makes a purchase that first time?
Some say 45 days etc. Does this mean the visitor can come back anytime within 45 days and you still get the credit, right? What if they come back (through your site) after 45 days. Does the process start over?

Action Referral Occurance: some say 1 time, some say unlimited
Please explain.....

3 month EPC
7 day EPC
Are these just estimates to go by to guide you to decide if you want to affiliate with this site or not? Do you want to go with the higher amount links even if you would prefer a different one placed on your site.

Thanks for your help!

Porkchop,

"Some say 45 days etc. Does this mean the visitor can come back anytime within 45 days and you still get the credit, right?" Yes, even if they come back 30 days later through a bookmark or search engine, you would still get credit, UNLESS they hit another affiliate link. The last affiliate clicked gets the credit.

"What if they come back (through your site) after 45 days. Does the process start over?" Yes, if they come back through and click your link again.

"Action Referral Occurance: some say 1 time, some say unlimited." Customer clicks and buys a green widget. You get commission on 1 occurrance. They come back EVEN IF there are 45 day cookies and buy a blue widget... If Action Referral Occurance is set to 1 you only get credit for the 1st sale.

3 month EPC
7 day EPC

EPC =s earnings per 100 clicks

Can be somewhat deceiving, but is helpful especially when comparing similar programs to see which one to go with, although many things can negatively affect EPC that do not mean it's a bad program. One of the CJ programs I manage had a MAJOR drop in EPC once because an affiliate had an auto link checker program go crazy and click links thousands of times. EPC would have looked bad then even though it was a great program.

Use EPC as a guide when selecting banners, but it's not gospel. It is some indication of how well a banner or text link has converted for others, but it's an aggregate number.

Hope this helped a little.
