How many affiliate sites per server?

I'm starting to build some mini sites to promote affiliate sales and find myself wondering how many sites is to many on one server. I could get a whole bunch of cheap hosting accounts at like $8/mth or just get a dedicated server and put all the sites on it. The price difference is huge. I can easily fit 100 mini sites on a $100 /mth dedicated server while doing individual accounts from different companies would cost areoun $800/mth.

Cheaper is better but my concern is google and ink seeing 100 domains all on the same server. None of which are large content sites. And in turn marking the server as hosting spam.

Any thoughs?

There is speculation that links on the same IP block 123.123.123.*** are devalued by google.

Of course, there is also the speculation that PR doesn't matter anymore.

In my opinion, PR is still important and I would not create all my domains on a single server.

Personally, I would probably go for a few reseller accounts and create a few on each.
