I think I just sold a Corvette

I usually dont promote big ticket items but I think I just sold a $40k+ corvette online.... I would walk away with 10% ~$4k+ in my pocket. The guy is flying up from Texas tomorrow to look at it in PA. There were a dozen pics of it or so on the site, so the guy is pretty sure he wants it.

It reminds me of that time I went tuna fishing... nothing, nothing, nothing, wham! I have to say I kinda like that. I sold $25K vette online once before, and a helicopter for $700k, except I got screwed out of the commission on that one, so that would make this the most expensive thing I ever SEO'd. My dad always said, "the more money that goes through your hands, the more that sticks to your fingers" ...he may have something there

well, I hate to say it, but pubcon looks out this year.... did it last year and had a blast, but I have a nasty dog sled racing habit that looks like it is going to use up all available funds... would need to sell 7 more cars like this one to flip the total bill... so I think you will have to, gasp, 'take my water and go on without me'.

...something like $14k.... can't remember now... same buyer contacted me and another broker at the same time... we should have split a commission but he was a real broker and I was just an SEO... still burns me to this day.... that was HUGE click.

The Holy Grail of SEO -
getting 10% on big ticket items

And to think I sometimes celebrate 5% on a DVD.

I live right next to a dealer that specializes in dream cars. Muscle cars, foreign, 50's, Porsche, Ferrari etc.. I have seen just about every car that is worth drooling over in his lot at one time or another.

I approached him a few years ago about designing a web site.

Apparently a "friend" was already developing a site for him. I don't think to this day it ever got built. We had discussed things for a little while but I got the impression this guy had no interest in the web at all. I think he was satisfied selling and trading through traditional means like Hemmings and the show circuit and word of mouth.

I never really pursued this any further since Ebay started selling cars but it sounds like there might be life after Ebay?

Do you think I should approach this guy again?

Why not just ask him for a commission, on cars sold to your recommended clients, then get clients for him¿¿
Good luck dogboy,

I just found out....apparently 'The Big Click' turned into 'The Big Dud'... he didn't say no, but he didnt cut the check. From what I understand, he didn't realize that a race modified vette not only looked fast, but was powerful enough to tow a 5th wheel trailer... the guy had never driven a car like that and had some difficulty.... he thought he was going to drive nice and slow around town, not have to stay in first and slip the clutch so he didnt stall it... we'll see

People like that have too much money.
They should give it to me.
Definitely.
