How do I contact vendors and offer banner space for sale?

I run a website that is very niche market. I want to offer banner space for sale to vendors in my market.

How do I approach them?

Any tips or ideas?

my strategy here is to go to the people you know are already prepared to pay out. so put in your keywords and check out who is shelling out the cash on:

- google adwords
- overture
- competitor's sites

I have had about eight sites put ads on mine and I got five of them like that.
