Hi there,

I have been searching high and low for some sort of discussion on the Allposters affiliate program but everywhere I go I get positive stuff, which a referral link to sign up.

I am testing them out right now, and in one day I sent them over 4000 clicks without even one sale.

These are highly targeted spots, probably more targeted than I've seen on the net in my experience (celebrity website, visitors ranging in age and sex)

Does anyone have any experience with them? I want to determine if my traffic is useless in this regard or if the performance is horrible because of Allposters being saturated in the affiliate market.

Poster site's inherently convert less because most of the people click just to see the pics...

But a SE friendly DataFeed driven poster site is always a great traffic generator and if you are little creative you can use it to direct traffic to others , say ebay!

To add to gopi's post. Part of the problem is your source of traffic. I would imagine a lot of your visitors might be teens without credit cards and others just hoping to gawk at pics.

I have to believe there are people making money with posters one of two ways. Either they target niches towards adults who are willing to bust open their wallets or they just send a ton of crap traffic and hope enough converts to make some coin.

Yes, understood, but then again there are sites just like mine that seem to be making money with poster sales and they don't seem to be doing much different than me.

What I'd like to know are some actual click/sale conversion rates if anyone has that data.

Hello ;-)

You say you have targeted traffic in the way of celeb sites. However that does NOT mean these people are looking to buy posters.

Allposters and art.com both offer very good affiliate programs that can make a smart marketer a few bucks (figure a very nice monthly car payment). If your really serious about this market you could prob make enough to quite your job ...

The question is targeted traffic, just as we speak I am taking a break from a new poster site as I am gearing up for christmas sales (you need to get your ducks in a row very early to expect online sales by nov and dec).

Take a look at the title pages people are landing on, do they have the word "poster" or "print" if not don't fool yourself and think that you have targeted traffic.

Also, about conversions I think gopi hit the nail on the head. Many people find posters and prints "entertaining" and will simply want to view artwork by famous artists or veiw posters of the latest "hottie".

Last summer I put together my first "real" affilaite site and am still making a couple hundered bucks a month from that site month in and month out. It can be done, just dont think your going to get rich with posters.

Hi Brian,

Understood, but again, any conversion numbers specifically for allposters?

Decius , I crunched last 6 month's worth of Allposter data and the conversion rate seem to be around 2.7%

Pls note this is the ratio of Items Sold/Unique visitors (not hits)

True much of the traffic from poster sites is junk traffic, people looking for pics etc.... Every once in a while someone actually buys, but more often than not they don't. There are some other revenue generating angles for this traffic, but they are (secret) and few and far between.

Stats for hits/clicks:

Here ya go....

874,668 clickthroughs to allposters
$9766.12 sales
$2060.07 commision

Terrible...

Maybe I'll show adsense instead? Get the CPC and let the advertisers worry about the conversion rate ;-)

That is horrible. :-¦

I am doing much much better than those numbers.

I am not going to through out any "detailed" info. I honestly dont watch it "that" close. Infact I think too many webmasters can get caught worrying too much about numbers.

Good traffic, with the right affiliate program with the proper products = commision checks.

I am averaging about $500 a month right now with about 600 visitors daily.

Eek... A penny a click!

It's hard to call $10,000 a waste of PR and effort, but I guess it depends on what eles you could do with it.

I get a sale every 140 clicks....by that I mean when you go to the stats and ask for "traffic", I get a sale every 140. Never bothered looking at their recently introduced "unique visitors"....prolly a much more useful stat but I had already got used to the normal "traffic" stat.
