Hi Everyone,

I m a new member and a new webmaster as well. I needed advice from al you experienced folks out there. My site was launched quite recently (4 months back) and I am happy to say is getting about 2-3 million page views per month and growing.

So far I have not signed up with any one like Tribalfusion or Burst and I need you good folks to help regarding this. I am ready to put a skyscraper , and a banner ad on each page. My site is highly subject oriented so what kind of CPM can I expect (for targetted advertising)? Do we get enough of targetted advertising or are non-targetted ads more of the case normally? what does on mean by default ads (do these also pay?)

Also while going through these forums I have many times come across things like default ads , what do u mean by that? How much of my inventory can I expect to be sold ; since I have not so far approached or even put up an advertising page yet (I wanted to concentrate on getting the people first) , what kind of total revenue (per month) can I expect.

is affiliates more lucrative then selling ad space for CPM?

Should one sign up for popunders? dont ppl hate that stuff? But it seems that the CPM for them is best.

Please help me ppl , I didnt know that everything would be so complex. There seems to be no smooth sailing in sight even after getting page views :(

Welcome to WebmasterWorld whizkiddo,

From my experience use both affiliate programs and CPM stuff. Besides the ones you mentioned googlr adsense and fastclick also have programs. How much you make totally depends on your audience.

Default ads to me are ads that are displayed when a paying advertiser in your ad progam is not available. You do not make revenue from these unless you sell these ads yourself.

Pop ups to me are a dying art. Popup blockers are starting to make some headway. They are annoying, but can give you some good revenue. I personnally don't like them and don't have any on my sites.
