Some basic questions

I wondered if someone could give me some basic advice.
I have a site selling a service and have been approached by a couple of other sites wishing to place adverts on their site for my site and to receive a commision for every conversion.
I obviously could provide them with the banner ad etc but I was wondering how we both keep track of the other.
How do I identify which customers have come from a particular site and what can I do to show the introducer that I'm not ripping him off.
Is there any software I can buy etc etc.
If anyone can point me in the right directiom to mug up on this topic I would be grateful.

You need an affiliate tracking system. Your affiliates each get their own link, with their unique id in it. The system tracks the user, sometimes with a cookie, after the referral.

There are lots of different was to do this. You can set up software on your site, you can pay for a service to do the tracking, or you can join an affiliate network.

These options have been discussed quite a bit recently, dig around in some of the threads in this forum for a better feel of what might work best for you.
