Is there such a thing as an average CPM rate?

My first foray into the realms of CPM advertising...

I've been unable to find many resources relating to CPM advertising that aren't over 2 years old, so I thought I'd ask you kind folk. Is there a current 'average' rate for CPM?

Thanks in advance :)

You shouldnt be looking to pay more than £1 CPM on a run of network campaign in the UK, this is based on about £5,000 > £10,000 campaign.

I am still seeing certain sites with CPM rates of £30 etc etc, what planet they are on I just dont know.

Sorry, should have said I'm wanting to provide this advertising on my site and am trying to figure out what to charge - I don't want to advertise myself. The traffic is highly webmaster-related.

Thanks for the reply Shak :)

well bearing in mind that the going rate for CPM is £1, and that the agencies handling this are taking a 50% cut, that leaves a CPM rate for a publisher (you) at 0,50p

NOT a lot.

naturally it all depends how targeted the traffic is, and are the visitors likely to click on the banner and buy a product etc etc.

Thanks for the info Shak, I'm gonna try and manage the advertising myself without bringing any agencies etc into the equation.
