What are some average commission rates for affiliate programs?

I'm thinking about setting up an affiliate program for my website (eCommerce) but i'm having a difficult time trying to determine what a reasonable commission percentage is.
10%? 13%? 17%
If anyone has some suggestions i'd highly appreciate it.

Whatever it takes for people to promote the program. If you're some BigBox retailer, you might be able to get away with 1-2% and 1 return day. If you are just getting started it might be 25% and 90+ return days.

SAs look at payout (dollar ammount) and EPC numbers over commission percentages. SAs would rather get 10% of something than 50% of nothing. Work that into your offer. Tell them the average per sale, conversion ratios and estimated EPC numbers. This will give them the information they need to know to start a promotion.
