Hi
This is my first post here and need some help quick
Last week i received and email from CJ quality control as how i sent traffic to them, (by the way i only use them to link to ebay) they asked did i use pop ups emails or software etc, i pointed out that i only use direct text links back to them and use no other means, the next day i get a nasty email saying that i am driving invalid clicks to them an i must tell them how i was doing it, i pointed out that my website is very basic and its built in frontpage nothing fancy and the only links to them where my text links, next day i get another email to say if i do not tell them i will be banned from the programme, they reckon i must be using something called a middle server because my url is stripped out, i pointed out that why would i do this as i would not get paid for any ebay sales so it would be pointless doing so, they got back saying that yes i would only get paid for the referrals with my url in and not the ones without which is fair enough with me but they still stay if i do not stop the invalid clicks then my account will be deleted, has anyone else had this problem and what can i do?, they have confirmed that my pages on my site are working ok and they are tracking those clicks ok, so where on earth are the invalid ones coming from

HELP

Look into places named "Linkshare" and "Shareasale" dot com.

If you really have no idea what could be happening, I suppose the most likely explanation is spider activity of some kind. You could replace your CJ links with a redirect script. The script could test whether a referring page is specified - if it is, then redirect the user to CJ; if not, then send them to an error page on your site instead, so that you can see who/what is generating these clickthroughs.

It's not a great solution because 5% or 10% of valid users normally won't have a referrer set. But at least it should get you through the short term.

P.S. Put the redirect script in a directory which is banned to spiders via the robots.txt file. There's no reason any spider needs to follow those links.
