What do you think of the, at least for me, new Self-Optimizing-Links from amazon?

The format and the displayed results seem to be good, but as they still only
pay per sale i can't see that bringing my revenue up.

(Unfortunately i can't find a link to post which leads to outside of the login required-pages.)

I logged into Amazon.com but couldn't see a new type of links. So do these adapt to the text of the page they are on?

Maybe its not on every country-specific amazon-site.
I saw it on amazon.de

They're on UK too. I've already put them on all my blog pages just under AdSense. The cute thing is that link units can sometimes line up with the images on the Amazon ads, so you get that image-text effect going on :)

The bonus over things like AdSense is that you can choose to have the clicked items open in a new window (at least you could on mine) which reduces the sting a bit.

Anyway, looks like an excellent idea, especially as Chikita didn't accept me :)

I see them on the UK associates site. These are contextual, which I think means it is against the Adsense TOS to have them showing on the same page as Adsense ads.

I've removed them while I research this. I forgot that weird clause. Will look into it now!

According to the "Program Policies", there's the "Competitive Ads and Services" section which goes into some detail, but at the end it says that "affiliate" links are allowed. Amazon links are affiliate links, whether contextual or not. So, basically, my interpretation is.. anything that's PPC (like Chitika) and contextual can't go up against Adsense, but 'affiliate' links can.

However, the Adsense "Standard Terms and Conditions" contradict their "Program Policies"! In the T&Cs, it says "You further agree not to display on any Serviced Page any non-Google content-targeted advertisement(s)" with no exemption for affiliate links.

So, very confusing, and might need AdsenseAdvisor to answer this one..

These look great. I have been using IFrames to put relevant items into my pages by hand. Hopefully I won't have to do that now.

Because of the content of some of my pages, I don't use Adsense anyway, so there is no problem there for me
