Does anyone make money with CJ?

After trying CJ a few months ago and giving up, i've put a few perfectly targeted banners on my highest-traffic page..
so far, with thousands of impressions per day i've gotten some clicks, but zero sales/signups..

Does ANYONE make $ from CJ banners, or any banners, or have internet users become banner-blind?

People click on text links much more often, but that doesn't mean banners are dead.
A good banner will arouse interest in a product, and the surfer will then often click a text link.

I try to avoid obnoxious flashing banners or putting more than 1 or 2 or the same page though.
I make much more from CJ than adsense.

I have had months that i get just under 5 figures from CJ without having to pay for the traffic.

Very targeted text links with very targeted traffic can bring you a 30-40% CTR with a 50-75% conversion rate.

You have to know your audience.

I agree. Banners are a complete waste of time. Nobody really clicks on these anymore. Insert text links to merchants within good content. That is the only way to make money with CJ in my opinion and I'm a teir 5 publisher.

The only banners that work for me are call to action type banners or deal banners. Like a deal of the day banner Buy.com has. Or a banner with a coupon, where people have to click to take advantage of the offer. Hot product of the day. That type of stuff. Not the merchant branding type of banners.

Nev er really had that much luck, adsense brings in easch month what CJ does in a year.

I have a music site and have used CJ. I tried text and picture links for posters (targetted to US and UK for the specific band) on a number of my more popular pages. I had about 10,000 impressions and no sales. Recently I have put ebay ads up (using the Editors kit) for a week every two months just to keep my CJ account open and I've had a few registrations and bids and it means I'll get a payout at the end of the month.

I don't think it's CJ that was the problem, I think it was me. I would never have put general banners up anyway but even posters for a band were useless when people were just searching for band info. If people are interested in posters then they would search for "band posters". So, I think it needs very careful targetting even with text links but that is true of all affiliate marketing.

I ran a [widget] website sometime back through cj that had a few sales on it..was paid promptly..no complaints.

In last 12 month I keep rotating my merchants.

First 4 month I tie up with program "A" got good Clicks and sales too but they never care to pay me.

Next 4 months I try CJ, got lot of clicks but not a single sales ever.

Now for last 4 months I am with Another program and get beyond my expectations in clicks as well as revenue.

So my Suggestion to you KEEP AWAY form CJ as my friends too have the same experience with CJ.

Also they suspend your A/C if you didn't earned in six month, it makes us to create lot of mail id to be with CJ.

CJ pays fine, you just need to get programs where you make sales. Perhaps those of you unhappy with cj are not finding the correct landing pages and are simply sending your traffic to the programs homepage where your visiotr has already seen the info, instead of sending your visitor to the product page or the buy now page.

It takes a little effort but after a while CJ can pay out handsomely.

If you make money or not it has nothing to do with CJ. They have tons of advertisers. I am a tier 4 advertiser with them. I went a long time without making money but that was all me. If you send the right traffic to the right program you will make money. I agree banners suck. Your lucky if you get a 1% conversion with those things. People just don't see them. Also a lot of people send a tiny ammount of traffic and don't understand why they don't get any money. You have to send a lot of visitors to these things to make money.

The best way to make money is to get traffic that is looking for what your ad says. This is very hard to do. You can't just stick some random ad on some site and expect to make money.

At first it takes a lot of experimentation but as you get more targeted traffic, a conversion rate of 3,4,5% or even higher is not out of reach.

hmmm.. please correct or forgive me for being blunt but I don't think it takes a certain number of clicks to get to a sale, its more of how qualified those clicks are in order for you to get a sale.

if someone is looking for dog food and you present them with pet food, probably low conversion.

but if someone is looking for dog food and you show them 2 or 3 kinds of dog food with specific benefits for their dogs, most likely the clicks would be of higher value.

in terms of percentage... its possible to get conversion rates of 3.5% upto 15%
