Sorry - being silly and to be honest I didn't know so that's the first thing that came to mind...but wrong obviously :-)

Just been searching and it seems to be Cost Per Email (sent) ....(or possibly Cost per valid email address obtained through some kind of user input/signing up process - like a "lead" type of situation I guess) depending on the context.

Maybe it's something like CPM?

CPM stands for "cost per thousand" O_O... I didn't believe my eyes for the first time, but got explained then that "M" is a Roman thingy for "thousand" (in Roman numerical system)!

Dunno whether there's an E in roman numericals...
