Norton Blocking ads

How do we get something to show other than blank space?

I've read through many threads about Norton blocking ads such as:
[webmasterworld.com...]
[webmasterworld.com...]
and others.

I can't seem to find out how to deal with my banners being removed. Most of these threads are from 2004. So I have a few questions:
What kind of text links does Norton block?
Will putting a text link below the banners solve the problem?
What seems to be the most common solution for this problem?

I understand that some (most) people want to block banners, and respect that, so I'm not looking to force-feed my banners down someone's throat. The sites have to pay for themselves, and I would like to show text links to my products. Will Norton block that?

In my experience with Norton, if you use the same referral <a href> tag with text as you do with the banner, it will not show up.

Unfortunately, the banners from some affilate networks (such as LinkShare) consistently result in an empty space -- you'd think they would change their coding format, as their merchants are losing a LOT of exposure.
