Affiliates for 'Used Cars Classifieds' website

Hello,

I run a free used cars classifieds website that is receiving more than 5000 hits a day. I have started putting affiliate ads on it and to my disappointment, it is making just about $10 a day even though there are more than 700 clicks on the affiliate link. The affiliate is a major website that pays a commission whenever someone requests a quote on a used car or places an ad for a used car. Am I doing something terribly wrong here, or is this normal? Does anybody have similar experiences I can learn from?

You are probably getting alot of "tire kickers" (pardon the pun).

One of the sites I run "career related" gets thousands of visitors a day and doesn't convert very well either. Getting the hits (visitors) is the easy part, getting them to convert is the challenge.

You might try links for financing, debt, car buying books, auto parts, etc...
