About Commission Junction (CJ.com) Reliability?

I'm curious

I've made a few sales over the course of a year, especially since i've started to put some effort into it over the past few months.

I'm not overly concerned with my progress so far, but I did have one question that I would love some opinions on:

Is it possible that the merchant programs in CJ.com have enough control as to whether they can show if a sale went through or not? For instance, let's say I made four sales, but the merchant wants to "skim" a little off of the top (like one sale); can they do this?

Will CJ automatically record these sales, or do they have to go through the merchant for some kind of approval before commissions are displayed in our accounts?

As a side note, the programs that I have joined are somewhat reputable; they're not super huge, but not small either, which I hope equates to a little bit of stability and integrity from them.

Any ideas or opinions? Thanks!

If the sales are "batch processed" then skimming could occur before the date reaches CJ.

Otherwise, the standard way of robbing affiliates is to reverse a sale. Legit reasons for this include stolen credit cards and returned goods. A few CJ merchants (often hosting companies) have been suspected of reversing sales to get out of paying commission.
