The email list is 100% text based (and will stay that way), so that rules out a few types of advertising options.
Basically what I'd be looking for is a seller of a product/service my visitors would be interested in that would advertise in the email list on some type of flat fee scale.
For example, $x.xx for every y,yyy subscribers.
My question is, where do I find that? I get emails all the time from people asking about advertising on my site/email list, but I've turned every single one of them down due me feeling that what they're selling is not of a high enough quality (crap) to put in front of my visitors.
Do I go out looking for advertisers? I mean, I can think of a bunch of relevant products... do I just send emails to the makers of them asking if they'd be interested in advertising in my email list? That feels sorta... I don't know... spammy. Then again, how else do I find them?
Also while on the subject, for the people with email lists, is the "$x.xx for every y,yyy subscribers" advertising structure common? If so, is there a general idea as to what the actual numbers are?
Thanks in advance for any help.
The cost of the data can vary massively, depending on how the data was aquired, what type of products they are likely to be interested in etc.
Personally I would approach comapanies that provide products I feel my members would be interested in and then see what the best offer you get is.
Cost pert aquisition is a bit of a pain since your success also depends on your clients web site and sign up procedure, if you could get a cpc or cpm deal this would be great, though you dont see so much of this anymore.
