i'm just curious, how many sites do you guys run at one time? what is your stats on uniques, pageviews, and cpm rates?

how many pageviews, uniques/month do you need to make substantial money in a year? ($15,000)

Not asking for much, are you?

If you want to figure how much you can make, use $5 CPM (i.e. US$5 for every 1,000 page views). That's very likely what you will make, within a factor of 10.

is this a per ad rate, with a program like adsense, or overall on the website?

if a site is targeted to a particular age group (not towards industry, product, etc.) what can a publisher expect as a rate per ad?

thanks for your replies

There are no rules or benchmarks. This is like asking "If I write a book how many copies will it sell?"

The best thing is to get started and learn about your audience as you go. It's not a quick study - there are a million little rules about design and traffic-building and usability and search engine optimization and monetizing your website, and they all have to be uniquely adapted to your content and audience. You'll be on a learning curve for years.

Traffic itself has little to do with sales. If someone comes to your site looking for a product you sell they are likely to make a purchase. You can have good sales with little traffic. If someone comes to your site looking for jokes and you try to sell them something while they are there, you probably have a ton of traffic and few sales.

Sell what they search for.
