What are the effects of buying/selling text link ads now?

Hey,
I dont know if this is the right forum or if this has already been covered (which I would bet money on) but I have no way of searching for the article :(

I want to try out selling text links and I was wondering if any of the SEs will punish me right now for doing that or if there are any other cons to it?

Then, depending on how that works, I would want to buy some text links too probably, any cons to this?

Could anyone PM me a recommendation of a good text link ad system?

I think Google doesn't like this but I'm not to sure.

Nothing wrong with selling text links.

Claiming that you are "selling pagerank" might be a problem, but providing a gateway to someone else's website and charging for it is perfectly legitimate.
