How long did it take you to reach $1000 a month?

Just looking at tax records this morning and reflected on my life of aff marketing for the last almost 6 years..
I remember when I first started it took me almost 3 months to hit that magical 1000 a month with my first site, then just kept building and now it seems more like fun than work.. I love being my own boss..
How long did it take you to reach that mark?

It took me about 1.5 year.

But the main problem why I didn't achieve it earlier was because I didn't realize you could make some serious money on the web.

I was using AdSense on my website to pay for the hosting and have a little bit more pocket money but I didn't expected it would be able to make me rich.

2.5 days after I started doing ppc correctly.

Hiccup, could you please share what you are doing with ppc. I'm not asking for any competitive secrets which would undermine your business. Just give us an idea on how to work with ppc.

It took me about 16 months.
But then, I don't advertise my site.

Sure, if you're using adwords, you need to be very very very relevant with EVERYTHING.

If you're using Overture, you need to plaster them with long lists of keywords DAILY.

You also need a goal of 10 successful campaigns, all in different industries, all different products in order to be properly diversified. Everything moves in cycles and you need to have at least one or two programs rocking at any given time of the year... :)

I could never have my earnings rely on a search engine. It's just too unstable and unpredictable.

Hard to say, as I was like Zygoot. I had a casual couple hundred a month coming in for years. I got serious about a year ago, and I guess it was last March or April that I broke the $1,000/month limit. I'm aiming for triple that for December.

It would have been this month but Google ran me through the guillitine between the 17th. I've been cut to 10% of what I was making since the 17th.

I'm staying positive though... diversifying... I'll get there so long as the PPC stays strong for a few years.

4 months to reach $1,000 and and 5th month reached $3000 , I never did day job, nor have any intension of. I love being my own BOSS. Live is short, so I want to enjoy it. now I only work 2 hours a day and my earnings keeps increasing.
