Chitika just announced that they are eliminating "curiosity clicks" from our revenues. Great. Who gets to decide what differentiates a "curiosity click" from an advertiser whose site just sucks and can't convert? Not us, that's for sure.
I spent probably a hundred hours putting up highly targeted ads on most of my pages. CTR and revenues were building nicely, then this. Whack! CTR cut in half, revenues by more than that. And just a casual blog post from them to announce it. Ho hum. Just another scam. Back to YPN!
I hope it shows up sometime today or at the very extremely least - tomorrow, as the funds are being wired to my PayPal account.
It's rediculous to have to wait over a month before even knowing what you actually made the month before.
Chitika, if you're reading - you could really use a representative on some of these webmaster forums. Your PR is going to crap, and fast.
This is a rough paraphrase of an email I got today from Chit support in answer to my inquiry over the missing audits. So much for their net-30 terms promise..
We are experiencing a delay in audits due to the holiday season, we thank you for your patience! We are working on this to complete them very soon! Payments will then follow.
I'm rather taken aback that your income has been reduced between 28-48%! That's a lot! If that's what Chitika is planning to cut back on me, I'n dropping them because my Google clicks have gone down since impletmenting Chitika.
Do you really have that many fraudulent clicks? If you'd care to share, I'd like to know about how many people visit your site each month. I think all this is nuts!
But beyond that the real problem is the time it takes to set up and configure the keywords, as opposed to a contextual system. We're going to keep an eye on Chitika because we think there's a lot of upside, but we're also going to cut impressions by about 90%.
