Chitika Redesigned eMiniMall Units

In an Effort to Lower Accidental Clicks

Mods, put this where it best belongs (start a Chitika category, maybe)...

Chitika just announced that they are eliminating "curiosity clicks" from our revenues. Great. Who gets to decide what differentiates a "curiosity click" from an advertiser whose site just sucks and can't convert? Not us, that's for sure.

I spent probably a hundred hours putting up highly targeted ads on most of my pages. CTR and revenues were building nicely, then this. Whack! CTR cut in half, revenues by more than that. And just a casual blog post from them to announce it. Ho hum. Just another scam. Back to YPN!

They accepted European traffic but from now on UK visitors (and later other countries) will start seeing ads from local merchants instead of ads from US merchants.

I hope there will be a way to test keywords for different countries.

We want audits :)

I prefer getting money without audits, but that's just me :-)

On what day were the audits last month and when was the money sent out?

The whole Chitika site is running under the postnuke cms once you log in...

Yikes... hadn't noticed. Good luck with that Chitika, hope you have a good backup.

Postnuke?

Perhaps it's wise to backup your chitika stats, by taking screenshots. I hear Postnuke is not the tightest cms ever devised :(

This CMS seems a little light weight, but then I hear Google even designed their own logo when they started up, and look where they are now.

No communication on audits, dismal ctr, somewhat deceptive tactics... the list really goes on.

The ads will never be seen on any of my sites ever again.

Geee... lets see here. It's the 29th of the month - ONE day from when payment is to be made, and there is still no audit data.

I hope it shows up sometime today or at the very extremely least - tomorrow, as the funds are being wired to my PayPal account.

It's rediculous to have to wait over a month before even knowing what you actually made the month before.

Chitika, if you're reading - you could really use a representative on some of these webmaster forums. Your PR is going to crap, and fast.

They are crazy!

I am mailing them 3 days about audits... and in every mail they say:

"You should be able to see your audited reports now. If you are having trouble with this please let me know."

Always same thing... but no audits!

SUCKERS!

So they are claiming to you that you should already be seeing your audited data? Are they referring to October's data?

They must mean September... I sure as heck don't have audited data for October.

I've requested OCTOBER data... They know that!

And they continue making fool out of me. Suckers, again!

Anyone else unable to get into Chit's Reports menu today?

No I can access Chitika's reports fine.

I'm thinking the delay in audited data, is to do with the crash they had on october 7th. Perhaps it is taking longer to recalculate the statistics because of that?

Well, I got stats for 11/29, but still no audits.

Well their October ads served was probably at least 10 times, maybe as high as 100 times, as much as September. So no wonder it's taking longer.

Finally accessed their Reports menu.. verrry slow.

This is a rough paraphrase of an email I got today from Chit support in answer to my inquiry over the missing audits. So much for their net-30 terms promise..

We are experiencing a delay in audits due to the holiday season, we thank you for your patience! We are working on this to complete them very soon! Payments will then follow.

I'm unclear when they pay. Do they pay in December for November sales? Or do they pay at the end of the month like google?

Yes, Chitika pays at the end of the next month, just like AdSense.

Last month it was even quicker than that, but it looks like they have some capacity problems because a huge number of new publishers entered the program in October.

Next month the audit should be much faster.

Lo and behold.. October audited Chitika stats have posted in my account! Chit deducted 38% overall with some days' deduction running as high as 48%, others as low as 27%. My site's traffic is 76% USA, 2% Canada, and the rest international.

No word yet from Paypal as to any actual payment from Chit.

>> Chitkia deducted 38% overall with some days' deduction running as high as 48%, others as low as 27%.

I'm rather taken aback that your income has been reduced between 28-48%! That's a lot! If that's what Chitika is planning to cut back on me, I'n dropping them because my Google clicks have gone down since impletmenting Chitika.

Do you really have that many fraudulent clicks? If you'd care to share, I'd like to know about how many people visit your site each month. I think all this is nuts!

rbacal

Our "loss" was about 30% of earnings. The really disturbing part is that it's unlikely that ANY of the "invalid clicks" had anything to do with geography, because the site is new, and in October just about 100% of our traffic was generated from ads in the US, Canada and UK, and about all our traffic came from those countries.

But beyond that the real problem is the time it takes to set up and configure the keywords, as opposed to a contextual system. We're going to keep an eye on Chitika because we think there's a lot of upside, but we're also going to cut impressions by about 90%.

Maybe take chitika off.

I saw around over a 70% reduction in clicks with Chitika's audited data! Nonsense!

Bye, Bye, Chitika!

Overall I got ~30% cut. I hear that is good, but it still sucks. They should audit everyday so people's hopes don't get up.

About 32% over October for me as well. One day was 100%.

No cuts here, but as some would say ... "this dog won't hunt". Couldn't even accumulate $10 in a month & a half. I've removed it.
