I started an aff campaign on google adwords linking to a site that is very popular on clickbank since at least 6 months.
I managed to get a good clickthrough, and keep the prices for 100 visits relatively low.
The problem in that even though I've put the price in the ad, and pushed the 90 day money back argument people click but still don't convert. They convert at maybe 0.5%.
So, I'm losing money on the campaign...
SHould I try to make still better ads including the word "buy" for example to get even better clicks, or should I start to doubt that the mercahnts converts as well as he says.. ( the fact that it was in top spot of clickbank led me to beleive it was popular with affiliates.... which led me to think that it converted well...)
I could make a profit with 1.5 or 2% conversion, should I still continue touching my ads?
Any advice?
Thanks
Yes I'm starting to think tat the merchant's site would be the problem here. I' trying to change the type of message on the ads to make sure that there is no confusion possible and that i'm sending the righ kind of traffic to the merchant's site, so i'll see on the next 200 clicks what's up with that.
I keep wondering about that program because it is so popular on clickbank for so long, I was sure that the convert was good...
How is it possible that a program stays so popular on clickbank and yet in the end they don't convert more than 0.5%
Any ideas for what I should do or like for?
Thanks
Here's something to think about. You say you have one ad in Adwords for this product. I would suggest you try out three different ads and see which has the best CTR and converts the best.
A low conversion could have to do with a MISleading ad. If the ad is misleading you could get an incredible CTR, yet no sales and it would have nothing to do with the landing page not converting. Fact is you're sending visitors to your landing page who are expecting something else because of how your ad misled them (just an assumption). This could be your problem, not the landing page.
Try your campaign out for another 100 clicks, but get rid of your first ad and try three different ones. If it still does not convert, perhaps the landing page does suck...BUT, you could be targetting the wrong keywords too....good luck!
Dave.
Actually I have more than 400 words in the campaing, all separated into groups of ads which are optimized for the words in the group...
I tried many ads before choosing the ads i'm running right now on adwords. I think I managed to get a good balance between CTR and also getting the right clicks to the landing page. All the ads ( I got 15) have the price of the product in them, and they are very clear about what is the product, so I guess the people know what they are clicking to...
I'm really starting to think the merchant does not convert, but then like you said it would not be placed high on clickbank? Or maybe it's all hype?
Thanks
You want to lead the prospect to the merchant's site with his credit card already out of the wallet :)
If the merchant converts well, which it should since it is tops in CB, then the problem could be the pre-selling page
A little update about this program.
I don't know what happenned exactly, but I've changed a few things on my ad text and boum! I got like 6 sales in three days, for a good 200$ with a less than 60$ spend...
That's great! But like I sais I did not really change the text of the ads, oh wait yeah, I added the price on the ad...
Thanks for advice all!
