Question 1:
What are users SURFING habits during any given 24hour period?

Question 2:
What are their online BUYING habits during the same period?

Question 3:
How do the above 2 relate to each other?

E.g.
Answer 1:
Internet use is low before 9pm as many users are travelling TO their work.
Internet use is high as people surf on their lunch break.
Internet use is low as people go back to work.
Internet use is high as people surf the net at home.

Answer 2:
Buying habits during the work hours will be mainly work related buying (flights, office equipment etc).
During lunch period there will be some purchases of home related goods (or do users just browse?).
After work buying habits are for personal use - e.g. Computer games, holidays, etc.

Importance: With PPC you pay every time a user clicks on a link - but they may be times during the day when users are likely to be just browsing with no intention of buying, and other times of the day when users ARE looking to make a purchase (different times for different types of users?). For PPC advertisers money would be best spent running ads when the click through AND buy conversion is high, and pausing the ads when people are more likely to be browsing (click through BUT don't buy!).

Do you agree/disagree? Are there any patterns? Feedback please :)

Marketing studies have indicated that it takes
on average 5 visits to a web site before the
person decides to buy.

Having a javascript to let the consummer to
bookmark your page, will enable the consummer
to find your page directly, rather than have
then finding you by the clicking
on Overture several times.

PS. Don't ever use automatic bookmarking, let the
consummer decide to bookmark, or you will never
see the consummer again

Thanks lgn

Other things that help convince users to buy seem to be:

Contact details - address and phone number lend trust.
Good Appearence - professional site.
Any awards / memberships logos etc.
