Why have my Overture clicks decreased?

Does OV appear on fewer SE now?

Over the past 1-2 months, I have noticed a steady decline in my clicks via OV. I have changed nothing on my search words or bids, and yet am receiving maybe 30% fewer clicks than 2 months ago.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on why this has happened?

I assume your positions haven't changed by someone out bidding you? As far as I know nothing has change with the SE’s displaying overture results

Could be as simple as offline phenomena "warmer weather".

or growth of "Googling"?

I posted on this a month ago and my figures are still down and conersions to sales are proportionately down even more than clicks, seems Overture may have lost it's way for the time being. Replaced some of this with Google Select Words, so far profitable but not as large as Overture was. Also UK based

My Espotting clicks are WAY up though, and my OV clicks are about normal.

Actually my Overture clicks (as listed by Overture) are going up, and my Overture visitors (as listed by my logs) are going down. Hmmmm. Sounds like time for an e-mail to customer service.

(added) I should note that the only sites I promote on Overture are related to tourism, so my results may be less relevant to overall trends than some general e-commerce sites.

oops, sorry to not have followed this discussion that I began! I thought I had checked "e-mail notification" but I guess I didn't.

Nobody has outbid me on Ov, and the words I am bidding on, though not top commercial items, still generally generate steady trafic. I can't figure out why this has decreased 30% over the past couple of months. And OV doesn't seem to be appearing on fewer SE, or am I wrong somewhere? They lost AOL entirely? When did that happen?? And if yes, what is AOL using for SE results now, then?

here is the thread on AOL/Google

[webmasterworld.com...]

As far as overture goes, I know that the number of searches reported by their keyword analyzer(US) have dropped significantly for some of our markets.

As far as my customers go I don't see a downward trend overall. Taking into account relative position I would say it is more likely to be a small upward trend but it is costing a lot more money to maintain those positions.

Maybe the people clicking on the links with thier bots got banned or they had to stop. thats only thinking that conspiracies really happen though.

At a long shot guess by looking at particular keywords in my industry and phrases that made it into Govertures "keyword analyzer tool", I would say divide by a factor of 20-30 for whatever number they give you and you may get closer to reality.

I base this on many months of results at PPC#1#2 and actual clickthrus and looking at the bottom end of the "keyword analyzer tool" which has some very obscure " 5 word ridiculous phrases" getting more traffic than I do in a day for the main "keyword".

I just let my Goverture words lapse for a while to see what happens, as click costs DO NOT come close to what I actually see in the stats.
