Looksmart - how bad can it get?

Dual regional listings affected by US listing outages

For those who have sites dually listed in Looksmart.com and Looksmart.com.au, and perhaps Looksmart.co.uk too, there has been a problem where, when you are dropped from the US when your clicks are used up, your listing in Australia disappeared too. I have been assured that this was not supposed to happen, but with the revenue wringing tactics we are seeing from Looksmart lately it's almost not susrprising. Because I can't/won't pay the click ransom I have had one week's listing in the last four with Looksmart US (and the same in Australia - one time only I hope!). You've just got to watch your back all the time.

Oh yes, it happens with UK sites too.

Jeez...lovely... just what we need.

Did they say that they would automatically restore all the sites they had chopped 'by mistake' (yeh) or only respond to those who spot the problem and complain? Any ideas?

You got it in one :)

Only a few seem to have done it so far - but you do get your sites restored. However, if they do this and you get back in - when L$ put your site back in the US directory - their PPC entry will reappear in the regional directory (as well as your restored one) - so you then have 2 entries. Guess which one appears on top? You've got it - the PPC one ;)

Thanks for that.

I guess in terms of who we are talking about it was a stupid question. What on earth can they do to us next!

In Australia they said they were working on the problem so it wouldn't happen again. So I guess this means every site that disappeared would be restored when the problem is fixed but in the interim they are restoring the individual sites that complain. By the time they get my site restored the US directory listing will be back in action for its next 100 clicks and I'll be looking pretty close after that to see what happens next time round.

Well... I have a response promising to re-plant my missing site. As far as putting everyone back though - I'll believe it when I see it.

In the meantime I'm also posting this now to get the thread back on the radar for any US prime time surfers who may as yet be unaware of their loss.
