All my overture listings are NOT appearing on MSN.

Not Good...

I hope this is temporary.

Still nothing

Could this be a point for LookSmart?

Just tried my favourite keywords for testing (online gambling) on MSN Search and the top Overture listings appear.

Interesting, the highly competitive Overture listings seem to be there, but not the smaller (lower priced) listings. That's for me anyway. What about you?

It seems that listings less than 0.15 are not appearing on MSN.

Yep. My listings for under $0.15 aren't showing up either.

Words can't express my unhappiness!

I should have said. Please delete prior post.

Learning more as I compare...

My theory so far...
--Overture listings do not appear under "featured listings" if the are at not at least $0.15
examples: robinhood, happy days, horse bridal
--Unless they are very popular keywords
examples: desinys child, music videos

Looking for feedback. Anybody awake tonight

Hmmm... well this is what I have noticed:

Say #1 @ $0.17, #2 @ $0.14, #3 @ 0.12. --- All show up in results

If #1 @ 0.14, #2 @ 0.13, #3 @ 0.11, none show up at all.

So anotherwords, if ONE of the bids for any search term are over $0.15, all are listed, otherwise none are. At least that's the way it appears for my search terms...

Isn't $0.15 the minimum click for LookSmart? It makes sense to substitute LookSmart when Overture is less than $0.15.

This may put pressure on Overture to raise its minimum.

where are the overture results supposed to show up on MSN? i see:
WEB DIRECTORY SITES
link to Top 10 Most Popular
5 results
WEB PAGES
all other results

when clicking the link to top 10 most popular, i see ask jeeves with our overture listing ($0.05) under PARTNER SEARCH RESULTS

is that how it is supposed to be?

Crazy_Fool

normally on the top of the SERP under the heading "SPONSORED SITES" check your sticky for an example

Odd I've got some listings on MSN that I'm only paying 6p PC but none at minimum bid, personally I don't think it's a bad thing

I do not think the limit is 0.15.

There are bid at 0.42 that do not show!

Compare:

[overture.com...]

to

[search.msn.com...]
&spoff=on&origq=&RS=CHECKED&FORM=SMCRT&v=1&cfg=SMCINITIAL&nosp=0&thr=&x=30&y=8

Yikes! I see the same as you do Angiolo. A $0.32 bid for "stockholm" is not shown anymore. There are two mored bids, both above $0.15. Noth shown either. But all three top bids for "stockholm hotels" are showing, so what is all this about? Single names of places not accepted for paid links? That spells disaster for a lot of people in travel and tourism, considering the known behavior of surfers planning trips.

They seem to single out certain industries.

One that I'm checking shows results where servedby.advertising is always at the top redireecting to one of their advertisers.

Must be [advantage.msn.com...]

Overture's page on their partners still states that the "top 3" rankings appear on MSN under "sponsored sites". Is this now incorrect?

Im thinking that the LookSmart latest changes is the start of a major shakeup in the PPC/SE partnership area.

It may have never been entirely correct.
I seem to remember that AOL did fool with "certain industries."

To be fair to Overture Mike, they do have a disclaimer on that same page saying certain industries and keywords may not be displayed on some partner sites due to partner policies. But what we are seeing here maybe different.

Well we have a keyword we are paying $2.25 a click for (as #1) and we don't show up in the listing at MSN at all- (Our $.05 keyword doesn't show up either, in fact nothing shows up for that keyword).

What drives me nuts is there are just a slew of looksmart results up there. What gives? $2.25 per click not good enough for MSN? Guess its that industry thing popping up again (this is relating to legal rep for faulty products)

Results for "Commodities Industry Keywords"

#1 @ .68$, $2.86 (Shows Overture results for both MSN.com and BetaMSN(http://beta.search.msn.com)

So basically Overture has lots alot reach into MSN's search results... disappointing. (Although they may be evil, it sure was convenient just going to one source for MSNYAHOOAOLASKTEOMAETC.. *sigh*)

grnidone

Let me get this straight:

With Looksmart's $0.15 per click, you don't get to choose

the page that is submitted (you only get the root url)
the keywords the term is to be found under
the title or
the description

And now, Overture placements of under $0.15 are not showing in MSN? Am I understanding this correctly?

I don't think the .15 has anything to do with it. It sure is nice sitting around guessing while the advertising vendors keep everyone in the dark.

LS and OV take the cake when it comes to customer relations.

Actually grindone, for a $49 fee, you can choose your title and description (subject to editorial review).

Not sure if .15 is the actual number (if there is one), however that seems to be the trend for all of my keywords and phrases.

Check out what Overture has to say about it's premium listings.
Overture Premium Listings [overture.com]

Take a special look at what appears after the IMPORTANT tag below MSN. Leaves a lot to the imagination.

I'm convionced there is a new algorithm that has some felationship to:
1. clicks per keyword
2. cost per click
You need to be high in at least one of these to be listed (or so my theory goes!)

grnidone

11:07 pm on Apr 19, 2002 (gmt 0)

Yeah..after looking at it, I think there is something more to than MSN not listing keywords under $0.15 from Overture...I think it has something to do with the popularity of the keyword. If it is less than X number of clicks a month, it is not listed in MSN.

This stinks in two years only Microsoft, Guess, Dell, and other major brands will be the only ones advertising. :(
