PPC strategy

What will making your site look bad in the PPC engine do to your ROI?

So with the new Google AdWords Select program, I am contemplating a new Google strategy. With the old adwords program, where I was being charged for impressions, I wanted the highest clickthrough rate possible (duh!). Lets say I run a web hosting site. So in my description, I definitely try to sell people on my services. I advertise the large space and transfer limits, the instant account setup, you get the idea.

But now that I am on the Google PPC system...I am thinking about changing my strategy. What if I advertise the worst part of my company? My prices are higher than a lot of my competitors. Why not advertise that? In a positive way, I mean. Something like "Web hosting for only $x.xx!" If 90% of the people who leave my site do so because of the price, then why pay for those clicks? May as well turn them off before they even click.

I am sure this has been thought of many times before, but I was hoping to get your thoughts. Any downsides to this strategy?

Using your titles and descriptions to pre-qualify visitors is definitely a good idea when you are paying on a per click basis.

however, with Google's new program, that strategy will not work quite as well because they are factoring clickthrus as well as bid prices to determine your position.

With that format, your ad will take a hit in its position if you use descriptions that discourage clickthrus. You can compensate for low clickthrus by increasing your bids, but you will end up paying quite a bit more per click, so Google will end up the winner either way. :(

Domain name in the title? It's a bit of a phenom, but I'm wondering how good it reall works long term?

You tried it WG?
