We make our money from suppliers paying to have their products listed on our service - and in exchange we let them know who is looking at their products via a registration process for users. Standard stuff.
At any rate; our content grows significantly monthly - therefore we need new eyeballs to view the content; overture has been one great way of doing this - but they rejected our last "clump" of words claiming - that since users are directed to another website/source to buy the product; we can't buy these words. It has to be either 'our' product or we should have the ability to sell it."
Any one experience this? Any suggestions around it? (hear my screaming plea for help) :-)
We have an account rep and went over her head to Director of Client Relations - I think all we did was piss off some people.
The biggest problem right now is that the editors would not allow keywords for companies that host "3rd Party content". In other words they are labeling us as a "affilate website" - we make money for delivering a visitor to another website for our clients; I believe Overture's partners view us as competitive to what they want to do. In other words; overture is finding a way to weed out "aggregators" of info and marketplaces - afterall; they'd rather have the individual websites bidding and building up CPC.
However, they are missing the value add we give to the audience we reach. Wierd.
I can't go anywhere on the WWW without hearing about KW rejections.
