Non-Overture Pay Per Click Engines

Is there any value to non-overture pay per click search engines.

Has anyone had any luck with-

ah-ha
find-what
7search
kanoodle or
bay-9?

Do the provide qulity traffic or are these pay per click search engines as bad as sprinks?

the problem with 2nd tier engines is that they are all struggling for "reach", which means they're more susceptible to cut deals with questionable "affiliates". these deals = lower quality traffic, which means less value per click.

i wont name names or place judgements on specific engines, but suffice it to say that its generally true - you get what you pay for. and in this instance, you are paying for credible audience reach.

keep that in mind when comparing CPC opportunities that might be enticingly low.

good general rule of thumb: evaluate an engine by its distribution, and - once campaigns are live - by the referrers themselves. a lot of traffic from unknown websites is generally not a good sign.

Y have a good experience with Sprinks and Findwhat.

I am now experimenting Kanoodle.

It is right that the quality of the clicks is not comparable with Overture but these ppc are a lot cheaper than Overture!

My suggestion is to experiment if the ppc is cheap for the targeted keywords: it is a good opportunity to show in the Metacrawler.

Sprinks (about) send targeted newsletters with your ppc ads: usually the two highest ppc rate advertisers.

You are the first person who has had good experience with sprinks that I know of.

Look at this thread.

I had a bad Sprinks experience so that is new to hear of a good one. I am thinking about Findwhat and Kanoodle as they are getting more exposure. Not sure yet. May take a test run with them when I have time to inspect everything closely.

Opinions wanted :) of the top non-Overture PPC engines, which would be the next in line? FindWhat? Kanoodle? Sprinks?

I have another thread that I started about Sprinks and it was 90% negative.

I would have said FindWhat last week.
Then perkoch found THIS [webmasterworld.com]
Since I didn't keep my records pre Excite/FindWhat I can not judge what the traffic drop might be.

Just found this info in FindWhat's newest
press release

"... Thus far in Q4, Excite.com has
represented less than 10% of our
revenue and year to date Excite.com
has accounted for less than 6% of
our total revenue ...."

You can read this PR in its entirety at:

Hello,

I have used kanoodle, bay9, and findwhat. The traffic, I got from Bay9 was pretty useless.

Kanoodle seems to be Ok. One problem is that don't review keywords. Also, at times, I have not been able to access their site.

Findwhat is the best out of the second tier search engines that I have used. They take the time to review new keywords or new listing and the additions of new listings happen fairly quick. The traffic seems to be of a fairly high quality.

Welcome soil1

Taking the time to review new keywords or new listings is one of the things that sets the better PPCs apart from others.

Kanoodle haa an option whether you want traffic builder or sales driver as a means of promoting your site. The difference is that traffic buuilder includes sites that pay for users to visit your site such as Search Cactus. Sales driver excludes those sites.

A traffic builder account can very quickly use up all of your money.

With regards to

ah-ha
find-what
7search

kanoodle or
bay-9?

Does anyone have an opinion on how easy it is to set up and maintain any of these pay per click accounts?

PPC search engines can give completely different results for advertisers depending on the keywords you are using. It's a bit like comparing apples and oranges.

In general I have found FindWhat the best after Overture but for certain keywords other PPC's have excelled. Test to find out which is best for you.

When testing new PPC's never use the account auto-replenishment feature to top up your funds. Do it manually so that you have some control of your money. Accidently select "traffic builder" on Kanoodle and you will know what I'm refering to.
