I've been told that if a SEO company submits its clients to GoTo then we get 10% of each click; but I can't find that info anywhere. Is it true?

This has come up before and GoTo said no way.

It would seem that jatar_k should be the one post or SM one of the moderators on this issue.

I've been ordered by my boss not to discuss this any further, but I can tell you it concerns GoTo UK, and a deal made a long time ago. Sorry.

sorry, away for a bit. Our deal is something I can't really say too much about but it is some kind of deal with goto that the boys in the suits made.

sorry edited a little info out. If no one knows I probably should stop here, but it is possible to get a deal.

Hmm, this has come up before. I worked for a company which had potential clients that got this deal (and thus couldn't be sold because they didn't pay list price).

I don't know if I can recall specifics off hand, but if anyone cares to sticky mail, I can try to dig up from some records which client/company/industry. Seems this would be fishy by SEC regulations, yes?

I'm a little suprised that this is such a secretive issue. At one se conference last year, GoTo had a team of sales people working the floor pitching their SEO partner program. At the time, I think they were offering 10% if you maintained a $10,000 monthly minimum, (I think).

I don't know how successful they were promoting it. Most of the reps from SEO firms that I talked to about it felt the 10% was insulting. The general consensus was that until GoTo offered something along the lines of a traditional agency discount, (15%-20%)promoting GoTo to their clients wasn't worht it. It's simply more profitable, (and fairly easy) to convince a client to spend their GoTo budgets on traditional SEO.

I think it has to do with the SEC regulations. If I try and outbid the #1 for "insurance" and they aren't paying list price, and goto knows it, and they don't tell me, they are price fixing.

That's illegal.

On the other hand, it is in line with more traditional advertising, to give a broker a percentage. And with goto being the best PPC market on the net, it's kind of hard for those who want goto, to not do goto. I think if they just inform more about what goes on, then everything would be A-Okay...and no where else can you get the results you can from Goto. (or should I say, 'overture').
