I have been told that it is possible to submit a site to GoTo without having to pay. Is this true?????

Yes, Goto lists sites from the inktomi database (after the paid submission of coarse)

You do the submission through normal Inktomi channels (hotbot,canada.com,anzwers.com) and that will get you into the Ink db that Goto is using. (but you knew that...lol)

way old thread BUT imho

When you DO pay at goto.com, the #1 thing you need to determine is - will your site covert at a higher rate than your competition.

#2 Title
#3 Description
#4 the bid amount

If you are bidding against a site that sells "whatever" at 10% less than you offer "whatever" chances are they will convert at a higher rate. This is more likely to be true on the consumer side than on the b2b side where service etc. may become a factor.
Winning the #1or #2 spot does not always mean you will increase your net revenue.

Now when AOL users start to come by we will see what happens.

anyone?
