"Terra Lycos said Friday it would use Goto.com's search engine services for its Web sites in a three-year deal potentially valued in the "tens of millions of dollars."

Choose your demographics, do you want Goto, AOL or Lycos?
Ooop's you have to take all three, get prepared for a drop in conversion rates!

Who is this a good deal for? Note the share price movements. RC, are you always right?

>demographics

I'd bet that AOL and GoTo have a huge overlap in their demographics. I don't know enough about Lycos to comment.

>always right
(an inside joke, folks) When I said that about being "GoTo-ized" I was using the term for PPC engines in general. Little did I know that they were, in fact, going to consume the majority of SE top spots.

Metacrawler.com (Go2net), is also displaying Goto results in their mix....

Interesting thing to note:

Do a keyword search on something that has plenty of bids at Goto...

Note the listings for the top 5, then start "refreshing" your browser.. Notice the change in listings?

We're paying $.31 for a keyword on Goto, but only $.01 or $02 on Sprinks and Findwhat.. At least our Sprinks/Findwhat listings are in the top spot in the rotation, occassionally... :)
