Referrals from Overture

I was just checking my logs and I saw a referral from a big music magazine. I checked the page and there is a link to my site in the Overture sponsored results.

Only thing is I don't use PPC and have no Overture account. My first thought was they are infilling with results from their SERPS but my page isn't anywhere to be seen in a search for that particular band.

No. It's a personal music review site.

could it be that the band appearing in the sponsored results is promoting themselves through your site and wanting more people to know about them.

as you said it is for a particular band, this sounds like the only thing that makes sense.

I know what you mean - but this goes to a page that just lists tour dates for a famous band. Given the choice, I'm sure the band would link to their own tour page or a ticket site.

Thinking about infill, maybe they take results from Ask rather than Yahoo. That might make sense.
