What countries are seeing my ads?

I've created some ads in my Yahoo Search Marketing account, but how do I specify what countries will see my ads?

Its quite simple actually.

You can't.

At the current time you must create a seperate account for each country you want to target.
[webmasterworld.com...]

By default YSM should only show to the USA, however some people have complained of foriegn traffic:

As of today we receive roughly 80% foreign traffic from Overture, after talking with reps we have been told repeatedly that they cannot geo-target.

So, do not count on anyone telling you that it will be USA traffic, cause it simply is not true.

I am in the UK and on Yahoo.com I can only see Overture UK ads. On MSN.com I see (or saw) Overture USA ads. I am not sure if smaller partners geotarget.

Ok, from yahoo.com itself, they generally Geo-Target fairly well, however if a foreign visitor goes to yahoo.com for instance and searches, they will pull up USA results.

The big issue these days with Overture is their "affiliates" who are responsible for the influx of foreign traffic and rediculously crappy visitors.

If I were you, i wouldnt waste my time with overture.

I am hearing you John. Soon I will need to set up Yahoo! USA PPC accounts again (after a long absence of 2+ years).

I will need to decide if it is worth doing for Yahoo! alone. Yahoo! SERPs are pretty easy to get naturally so I might not bother!

Just take care sem4u. I just paused a couple of my Yahoo US accounts because I get lots of traffic from outside the US. I wonder why Yahoo doesnt do IP tracking and redirecting searchers or something, when people from outside the US type in yahoo.com.
Now I'm worried about my Yahoo UK account which I started a couple of days ago. Will keep a close eye on that.

Personally, I've never liked redirection based on geotargeting. It presumes the user does not know what they're doing. There are people want to go to the home page because they are interested in what is there. Also, geotargeting isn't reliable.

If anything, whether the user goes to a country-specific page should be something the user controls. The web server can offer to set a cookie that when presented on future visits causes the server to redirect to a country-specific page.

As an example, I don't live in France, but like to visit the France Y! page. I don't want to be redirected.

Ya I see what your saying gregbo but trust me, a lot of times people dont realise. I use to type in yahoo.com all the time without realising I was going to the US page (it doesnt re-direct me - I dont know why) until 2 years ago. Lots of people out there who are very new to the internet. I dont want people all around the world clicking my ads when I want to target only the US. Its not so much a problem with the other yahoo SEM accounts other than the US.
