If you have an API account you can get some real laughs. I swear the system isn't up for more than 24 hours at a time. They send emails every time something is broken, which is amazingly often..
It's cost me so much in time, effort, and stress, trying to figure out where the money went, why I'm getting charged, why there are no clicks showing up, etc.
We've used OV pre-Yahoo and post-Yahoo.. It seems that the addition of capital has done nothing to increase the up-time. It's awful when you consider the millions per day in revenue.. 'Server Delays' should be a non-issue.
From an uptime and interface perspective, Google is like a miracle compared to OV.
Those things being said, OV does allow for a much faster (when the servers are online) PPC management and that equals a lower CPC and higher ROI - IMO.
It's really too bad that the buying public continues to accept and support such a weak technology backbone at OV.
penman...what are our other options? (rhetorical question). I'm with you, I wouldn't spend a dollar with them if there were suitable alternatives but at this time there are not. I know there are some potentially major new search engines in the works, and the day they come will be a great day. Sadly though, it will probably always be 2-3 major search engines dominating the traffic. There are so many business industries domintated by one or two top players.
