GoTo spider?

I'd love better information from GoTo.

I have a lot of words on GoTo (like 50k or so), and I would really like a better way to maintain bids. Obviously, doing it manually sucks :)

Is there a tool I can buy that will monitor bids and let me set some criteria (no lower than 10th, no more than $0.25, put me in top 3, etc.)? I have seen a lot of search engine tools, but nothing that directly relates to GoTo's specific strangeness.

Check out www.positionguardian.com. It's a program (which I have no experience with) that closes up the familiar but costly price gaps between bidders. For example, some people end up bidding more than $0.01 above the next person after a while. This program lets you know which keywords have that problem so you can save a little money. If you use this program, let us know how it works because I'm a little interested. Good luck.

Now THAT sounds cool :) May not do everything I want, but if it deals with part of the problem, it helps - I have a feeling I am going to have to cobble a solution together.

Is that an approved Goto tool?

My experience is that GoTo doesn't endorse any tools but their own. However, after examining this product, I realized that it doesn't do what I need, either, although it does one piece of it very well.

PositionGuardian does a very good job of analyzing gaps in GoTo pricing and making recommendations on how you can save money or increase visibility. These are good things, but I need something that does the following:

1. Lets me pipe in a large number of words (thousands)
2. Lets me specify a target position and some detail about pricing (for example, max bid = $0.15, get me in the top 10 with that, but if you can get in the top 3, do so)
3. Gives me a detailed report on a scheduled basis regarding (a) positions I have lost, and how much it will cost to regain them, (b) gaps under me that would allow me to reduce a bid and not lose position, (c) a 'competitor-scan' that lets me specify certain competitors I always want to be higher than.

I think I will have to write this one :/

If you develop it (and I think you should) call it GoTo PowerUser, and sell it to GoTo. Otherwise GoTo would ban its use sooner or later, like google and some aps.

Sounds like a nice tool but pretty server intensive. I would definitely get goto's approval on this sweet application.

I have already spoken with GoTo, and they have made it clear that they don't care for the idea. This confuses me, since it should increase revenues for them - companies become more efficient with marketing dollars, making them more profitable, allowing them to spend more money. But they are focused on the fact that it will decrease their gross clickthru value.
