Which Overture Program should I join?

If I want something similar to Adwords.

I'm looking into doubling my traffic to my site by using overture's ppc service. Although, I'm a little confused on which one I should join.

precision match, local match or is there others?

Depending on if you sell your service/website locally. If not, go with the precision match and then just target keywords, rather than keywords AND location with Local match.

I do international targetting.. say only canada or only USA...

ok, I'll try to read more about the precision match program.

Start with Precision Match, (Advanced Match) off.
Then if you don't see the traffic increase you are looking for, slowly turn advanced match on appropriate keywords.

I would wait on content match, until you have maxed out on Precision Match...

IMO, don't join any, go to Google Ads.

We have had really really terrible service from Overture lately, as have others.

Wlauzon,

Don't confuse service with traffic/ROI.. :)

GAW has been primarily "Self Serve" since it's inception for smaller advertisers. I guess how do you equate "No service" versus "bad service"?

I think Overture has made strides over the past couple of months to become more customer oriented. They've beefed up their submission process, and are projecting to be at 2 day turn around on most submissions soon. The auto-review filter in the submission process through DTC is getting better also.

We always hear the negative from "Single Site" Overture advertisers. But until you are managing multiple active accounts at Over, you can't experience the progress they are making.

It's the same at both Overture/GAW, the large agencies/accounts have dedicated reps., the small fry are left to fend for themselves. Overture feels it's important to have some type of editorial process on new submissions. That's their right to do so. Though their importance to an advertiser will decrease when MSN launches it's own PPC engine platform, if you rely on paid search for traffic, it's hard to ignore Yahoo by itself.

When Overture rejects 420 out of 434 keywords because of "dead site" when the site has been down for a total of 4 hours in 6 years, that is BAD service.

Wlauzon,

You seem to be on a vendetta against Overture. :)
Give it a rest....

I'm beginning to tire of the PPC engine whiners almost as much as the Organic Google whiners that think they deserve to be top 10 for all their keywords.

WebmasterWorld is about discussing the marketing, technology, etc, not reading post after whining post about how terrible Overture is. If you have a problem with Overture, contact them. Better yet, if they are truly in such sad shape, I'm sure you could land a consulting position to turn them around, and save them from sinking into web oblivion.. :)

Yes, I suppose I do. Or, actually, I think they have a vendetta against me. Maybe several of them.

(sitting here looking at the list of keywords estimated for review completion on Jan 22nd that are still sitting in review...).

Finally got a reply on my problem tickets, and to quote.. ".. the transition to our new system has not been as smooth as we had hoped...."

At least they admitted that most of the sites rejected should not have been.. we will see soon.
